Description:

Branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) - leucine, isoleucine and valine - are unique among amino acids.

In addition to the obvious role in the construction of protein molecules, amino acids with branched side chains have many other functions. It is believed that during muscle work, they can be used for the synthesis of intermediate compounds of the cycle of tricarboxylic acids and gluconeogenesis, that is, they act as sources of energy. In addition, these amino acids have regulatory functions: acting as signaling molecules, they regulate the processes of protein synthesis and degradation, cell metabolism and growth, as well as insulin secretion.

BCAA serves as an important energy substrate during exercise and periods of stress, and as a precursor for the synthesis of other amino acids and proteins.

BCAAs significantly affect the metabolism of glutamine.

Glutamine is recognized as an important nutrient for many rapidly dividing cells in the body, especially in the gut and immune system.
